London-based artist Luke Maund creates bold, high-gloss abstract paintings that explore the relationship between colour, balance, and emotion. Working with poured acrylics on wooden panels, he carefully manipulates the paint across the surface before sealing each piece in resin, giving it a luminous depth and clarity. By limiting his palette to just two or three vibrant hues, Luke achieves striking contrasts that feel both dynamic and harmonious. His work captures a sense of calm within energy, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect amidst its vibrant intensity.
We asked Luke: What draws you to this bold abstract style?
“A family bereavement inspired me to reconnect with my artistic roots, and my work evolved as a response. Life can be so complicated and messy, that’s why I try to achieve an element of simplicity in my work-to bring a nugget of clarity into an otherwise chaotic world. I hope the viewer finds some comfort in the paintings.”
