Created over three months using acrylic and gilding on a textured gesso surface, the painting reveals extraordinary depth, warmth and luminosity.
Inspired by the rich patina of aged brass scientific instruments, Ancient changes beautifully with the light, drawing the viewer from its powerful overall presence into layers of intricate detail. The work carries a strong sense of stillness, optimism and emotional scale, making it one of the artist’s most compelling pieces to date.
